Output Behavior

The output behavior can be configured using the interface configuration software or the interface configuration app.

Clipping Mode

Using DIP switches, the analog output signal can be limited to the measurement range end values ("Clipping" mode).
For example, if the standard 4 … 20 mA signal has been configured and Clipping Mode is activated, the output signal “freezes” at 4 mA (lower) and at 20 mA (upper) – even if the input signal exceeds one of these limits.

This function is advantageous, for example, when the downstream control system cannot process any negative signals, or when it must be ensured that the analog signal does not exceed 20 mA at the output.

Measurement underrange

  1. In this field, either enter the value for which the output signal is limited in the event of a measurement range underflow or from which a substitute value for the output signal is output in the event of a measurement range underflow.
  2. Set the output behavior using the checkbox [Set substitute values in the event of a measurement range overage/underflow].

Measurement overrange

  1. In this field, enter the value to which either the output signal is limited when the measurement range is exceeded or from which a substitute value for the output signal is output when the measurement range is exceeded.
  2. Set the output behavior using the checkbox [Set substitute values in the event of a measurement range overage/underflow].

Set substitute values in the event of a measurement range overage/underflow

  1. Select this checkbox if a substitute value must be output for the output value in the event of a measurement range overage/underflow.

If this checkbox is not selected, the output value is limited in the event of a measurement range overage/underflow.

Subsitute value in the event of a measurement range underflow

The field is only enabled if the [Set substitute value in the event of a measurement range overage/underflow] checkbox is selected.

  1. In this field, enter the substitute value which is output as substitute value in the event of a measurement range underflow.

Substitute Value in the Event of an Overage

The field is only enabled if the [Set substitute value in the event of a measurement range overage/underflow] checkbox is selected.

  1. In this field, enter the substitute value that is output as a substitute value when the measurement range is exceeded.
