Notes on Modifying Existing Connections
Connections can be changed in the data point configurator after the fact, even if they have already been set up for communication between master and slave in the fieldbus configurator. The following rules must be observed for the various actions:
- Delete Connection
If a connection is deleted in the data point configurator, the connection that was set up in the fieldbus configurator is also deleted.
The mapping to variables is also deleted. - Add Input/Output Data Points
The data point is also added to the corresponding item in the fieldbus configurator for the connection that has already been set up. No automatic mapping to a variable takes place. - Edit Input/Output Data Points (name, data type, bit size)
The changes are also applied to the data point in the fieldbus configurator for the connection that has already been set up. However, if the data type and bit size are changed, the variables must be adjusted. - Delete Input/Output Data Point
The data point is also deleted in the fieldbus configurator for the connection that has already been set up. If a program variable was newly created for the data point through mapping, it is also deleted. No warning is given. - Edit Target Configuration (modify/add/delete parameters)
The target configuration of a connection can be modified. The new parameters are taken into account when a connection is established.
- Edit User Parameters
The user parameters can be modified at any time.
