“DHCP“ Tab

The “DHCP“ tab is used for initial commissioning of controllers using the DHCP server.

In their factory default settings, WAGO controllers are configured for “DHCP client“, meaning they receive their IP address from a DHCP server. The WAGO Solution Builder provides a DHCP server for initial configuration of devices. This server can be temporarily activated to make devices accessible and to conduct initial configuration.

DHCP settings

Network interfaces

Selection option of one from all network interfaces of the system. An interface for the DHCP server can be selected via a drop-down menu.

From IP address

Option for entering the starting point for the IP address range for free allocation of IP addresses via DHCP.

To IP address

Option for entering the end of the IP address range for free allocation of IP addresses via DHCP.

Note: If all of the IP addresses in the address range have already been allocated by the DHCP server, the server will reject any further requests. The requesting devices can then no longer be provided with an IP address.

Subnet mask

Option for entering the subnet masks to be used by the target devices which are communicated to the requesting devices along with the IP address.

Lease

Option for entering the lease of time of the assigned IP addresses. The devices request a new IP address from the DHCP server when this time expires.

Use MAC/IP address allocation from configuration

The DHCP server allocates IP addresses one after the other in ascending order from the IP address range to any requesting device.

The DHCP server reserves IP addresses for all planned devices in the WAGO Solution Builder for which both an IP address and a MAC address has been configured under menu item “Configuration“ on the “CONNECTION“ tab.

You can find more information in 8 “CONNECTION“ Tab.

Note: The reserved IP addresses may, but do not have to, be located within the IP address range for the DHCP server. Reserved IP addresses outside this range are also allocated when this option is enabled.

Assigned IP addresses

Lists all devices that requested and were allocated an IP address via DHCP (as “DHCP client“). The parameters MAC address and IP address are displayed for these devices.
